About this directory

Companies are grouped by the registered managing agent on each building's latest HPD registration. Records reflect the buildings a company manages, not ownership. Open violations combine HPD, DOB, and DOB safety violations; two-year violations combine HPD and DOB; two-year complaints combine HPD, DOB, and DOHMH complaints. Violations per 100 units — the normalized rate used on company pages and as a sort here — divides a portfolio's open violations by its total residential units. Companies whose unit data on file is implausible (fewer than two recorded units per property, or none, as with hotel stock) show their raw open-violation count instead of a rate, and sort after rated companies.
